Kitchen Color Trends for 2012 in New Homes

Cameron Pond New HomesFor one friend, the “Best Part” of building a new home was designing a kitchen that worked around the way their family lives.  That’s probably not surprising, especially for families with at least one “Foodie!”

Knowing that you want (or don’t want) a kitchen counter for family and friends to pull a bar stool up to is one thing – and knowing what kind of stove and refridgerator are best for you might not take much time… but there’s SO MUCH MORE to consider when you are “designing” your new kitchen in a Cameron Pond Home!

There’s cabinet color, flooring, marble choices, lighting, cabinet handles and tile choices, too!   As you are building a new home, and making these choices, most of the folks we talk to want to be sure that they are choosing colors that won’t seem “dated” in 18 months.  Because of this, many times, the key choices work from the marble choice… and that choice is often dictated by your overall COLOR Scheme.  So we thought we’d look at the “color trends” for kitchens in 2012!

Grays, Browns and Blues vs Copper, Henna and Ginger:

HGTV Dream Home designer Linda Woodrum, use a soothing palette of blues, cream and gray in the 2012 Dream Home Showcase Kitchen.  The eat in kitchen gave a nod to the fact that “We all seem to run out the door with a coffee cup in our hand.”  The oatmeal colored, light maple cabinets and stainless steel handles are a little more “contemporary.”

Certainly, most of the appliances in new homes in Cameron Pond are stainless steel.  Becky Ralich Spak, senior designer at Sherwin Williams says that they are seeing bolder colors as top sellers, “as well as the darker cabinet colors that are in style.”  She also noted that, “Aztec clay colors — such as copper, henna and ginger — as well as gold tones, are popular options.”

According to Designer Jarrett Hedborg one of the first things most people do is look at the colors in the “Trendy” restaurants that they enjoy.  A word of caution, according to Jarrett, “stay away from colors and combinations that have a commercial feel, such as the ones you see over and over in restaurants and retail stores. There are words we avoid because the color schemes are done to death (like) Tuscan and Terracotta. These have become color clichés.”

Cary / Raleigh Named Top Real Estate Market To Watch in 2012

When you read about Real Estate Trends, you will often see the “Source” of that information to be noted as Inman News.  Why?  Because, Inman News is highly focused on the real estate industry, and is considered the most authoritative source of national market conditions, Real Estate Industry trends and financial news.  So, when Inman News reported this month that the Cary / Raleigh Real Estate Market is THE TOP “Market to Watch” in 2012 people took notice!

This means that Cameron Pond, with custom new homes in Cary, is sitting in the middle of one of the “hottest” markets in the Country!  Inman News reported that in the 3rd Quarter of 2011, the Cary / Raleigh real estate market saw a 7.3% change in the median sales price compared with the 3rd Quarter of 2010.  They also noted that the Foreclosure activity rate for the Cary / Raleigh Real Estate market in November of 2011 was a rate of 1 in 1,295 units.

At $224,300, the Raleigh-Cary metro had the highest median sales price among the 10 markets on this list and was the only market with a median sales price above the U.S. median.

Most Economist believe that housing and the real estate market are closely tied to J-O-B-S.  The US Census Bureau says that Cary / Raleigh grew by 41.8% from 2000 to 2010, making it the fourth fastest-growing metro in the country, and much of that growth is attributed to a young, educated population.  In fact, according to data released this month from Moody’s Analytics, the Cary / Raleigh market is expected to grow by at least 2.0% during 2012 in most job sectors.

Bottom Line?  If you are considering a job change to the Cary / Raleigh area, come look at Cameron Pond!  We are in the highest rated real estate markets in the country, and we have the MOST beautiful custom new homes!  Of course we are a little prejudiced, but we’d love for you to hear from some of the folks who live here, and love being so close to wonderful Community Amenities and great schools!
