The Easter Bunny is coming to town this spring, and so are some other exciting events during March and April of 2012! The Town Of Cary will host the annual Kite Flying Festival at Bond Park starting at 1 pm on Saturday, March 10, 2012 (Rain date: March 11). This event is happening not too far from the New Homes at Cameron Park! This year the Town will offer prizes to over 15 categories for competitors, including serious ones like “most unique kite,” “largest kite” and “kite farthest out.”
It’s a fun day, and there are “just for fun” categories like “best crash,” “best tangle” and “most un-flyable kite.” While there will be Skill demonstrations occurring throughout the day – we also like watching the kites go up that were made during the children’s classes that morning! An awards ceremony honors the winners, including “youngest flyer,” “oldest flyer” and “most generations flying a kite.” Many of the Cameron Pond Residents tell us this is one of their favorite events!
The new downtown arts Center has tons going on too! Tarradiddle Players present Rapunzel on Sunday, March 25, 3 p.m. This Touring Company of Children’s Theatre is from Charlotte, and they travel with the production all across the Southeast. Adapted by renowned playwright Max Bush, this production stays true to the mystery and enchantment of the original Brothers Grimm fairy tale.
