We have beautiful performing arts facilities of all kinds in Cary, and a favorite spot to enjoy music is at the Koka Booth Amphitheater. Beginning April 25th, a new Jazz series will begin, and each Wednesday until May 23rd there will be new performances by local and regional artists. One of the best parts about this series, might be that it will be held on the Crescent Deck, which is covered, and has ample Table and Chairs already configured. Additionally, you can take a picnic to each event (although alcohol is not permitted).
Tickets for 12 and under are free – and tickets for all others are just $5 each! The first show will feature Peter Lamb and the Wolves, with Sidecar Social Club as the opening act. May 2nd will be a great night of Jazz with The Stanley Baird Group.
On May 9th, Kathy Gelb and Gregg Gelb will perform with the Triangle Youth Jazz Ensemble as an opening Act. Tickets for this event will likely be in hot demand. Not only is Gregg Gelb (Kathy does vocals) a noted Jazz player, he is founder and director of the Heart of Carolina Jazz Orchestra and Jazz Society, and co-founder and player with the North Carolina Jazz Repertory Orchestra. He is director of the Triangle Youth Jazz Ensemble. Gregg plays Saxophones and Clarinets and is a Master at all forms of Jazz including swing, bop and classical Jazz. He also teaches MANY of the aspiring Jazz students in Cary!
